Workout Gloves Help or Hindrance

When I started working out with kettlebells my hands got torn to pieces, so I ran out and bought a pair of gloves to use for my training.
The gloves sure prevented callouses but I hated them. The gloves were padded so I couldn't really feel the kettlebell in my hand and as my reps increased the gloves actually weakened my grip on the KB.
So off came the gloves and on went a little chalk. The first week or two was painful but after that my hands formed protective callouses and I've never looked back since.
Your first impulse with your body is often to wrap this and tighten that without ever considering the underlying mechanics of why.
Unless you are a highly paid hand model there's no need to wear gloves when your lifting weights. Gloves are great for cycling, paddling, just not weightlifting.
